Vogemann buys 3

H. Vogemann of Germany has boosted its fleet with the purchase of three panamax bulkers.

Hamburg-based Vogemann bought the 74,000-dwt trio Maria Salamon (built 2001), Willi Salamon and Gertrud Salamon (built 2000) from Eastern Media International, which was formerly Far Eastern Silo.

Vogemann is paying $82m en-bloc for the trio, brokers say.

Following the deal, Vogemann?s fleet will swell to 25 vessels, totalling around 2.1m dwt.

This is not the first time Vogemann has purchased vessels from EMI, having previously bought five panamaxes from the Taiwanese company.

Four of the vessels are operating in the vogemann panamax revenue pool. A fifth ship, the 73,000-dwt Far Eastern Marina (built 1997) was immediately sold on to a Chinese buyer in a rising market earlier this year.

Dry draught

Dry cargo activity was seizing up today as falling freight rates led to a dearth of capesize fixtures as well as fewer panamax and supramax deals.


Rates are down for all but the smallest vessels in marked contrast to last week?s hectic market.

Rio Tinto did the only large bulker deal today securing an unidentified vessel to carry 160,000 tonnes of iron ore from Australia to China at $20 per tonne, a rate down on last week?s levels.

Panamaxes (Index 35.205 USD/dagen)


Klaveness fixed Kassian Maritime?s 71,000-dwt North Princess (built 1996) for 11 to 13 months trading at $23,500.


China Shipping International?s 74,000-dwt Tian Bai Feng (built 2005) got four to six months work from undisclosed charterers for $33,500 a day.


Norden fixed Pacific Carriers 77,000-dwt Double Prosperity (built 2005) Netherland ? Norway round trip at $40,500 a day.


Dynacom?s 76,000-dwt newbuilding Glyfada 1 was booked by NYK from its Shanghai yard for a trip via Indonesia to Japan at $40,000 a day.


Oldendorff fixed Yamamoto Kisen?s 76,000-dwt Maritime Bagui (built 2006) for a Gulf of Mexico to Turkey trip at $37,000 a day plus a ballast bonus of $675,0000.


STX Pan Ocean is paying $36,000 a day for Johann Blumenthal?s 77,000-dwt Clara (built 2006) making an India ? China voyage.


Undisclosed charterers have booked Polembros? 71,000-dwt Theotokos (built 1984) for a India ? China trip at the same $36,000 a day.


Sinotrans? 74,000-dwt Great Loyalty (built 2009) is to make a China ? North Pacific ? Far East voyage for undisclosed charterers for $35,500 a day.

Taiwan Navigation?s 55,000-dwt Tai Honesty (built 2007) was also fixed to undisclosed charterers for an India ? China voyage at $29,000 a day.


Ranger Marine?s 41,000-dwt Drake (built 1985) is getting $28,000 a day for a South Africa ? South America ? Far East voyage.


Cargill booked Jadroplov?s 44,000-dwt Trogir (built 2001) for am Algeria via Gulf of Mexico to Far East voyage at $25,750 a day.


Polaris Shipping?s 52,000-dwt IDC Pearl (built 2002) is to make a China ? South East Asia ? Far East voyage for Korean charterers for $25,250 a day.
