Transgrain forked up nearly $50,000 for a supramax lift out of the US Gulf on a day capesizes and panamaxes lost more ground.
Atlantic panamax rates were still pretty good as were front hauls, but things are still softening in the Pacific.

Panamaxes (Index 32.463 USD/dagen)
A high point was the $41,500 a day Richstone spent for a trip from Europe to the Black Sea and Far East with the 75,200-dwt Acena (built 2001).
Dreyfus outfit Cetragpa has the 87,100-dwt Eternal Salute (built 2006) on a similar run but back to the Med at $39,000 a day.
Cargill booked the 75,300-dwt Nordmosel (built 2001) for an Atlantic roundtrip at $38,000.
Sinoeast has the 71,300-dwt Fu Le (built 1998) for a Far East-Australia roundtrip at $35,000 with NYK paying $2,000 a day less for a similar journey with the 75,100-dwt Thalia (built 2001).
Meanwhile Eitzen spent $35,000 a day for a roundtrip from Taiwan to Indonesia with the 75,600-dwt Ligari (built 2004).
Oldendorff came up with the same fee for a similar voyage with the 73,500-dwt Hamburg Max (built 1994).
The period marker has gone quiet but the 75,100-dwt Patka (built 1994) found work for between 11 and 13 months from the UK at the very end of the year at $26,500.

Supramaxes (Index 25.730 USD/dagen)
Transgrain?s huge $48,000 a day punt was with the 52,400-dwt Star Delta (built 2000) from the US Gulf to the Far East in mid December.
The 45,800-dwt Gao Qiang (built 1998) will head from the Med to the Black Sea and Far East for $32,000 a day.
And the 53,200-dwt Mairouli (built 2003) has an Indian Ocean roundtrip at $24,000 daily.
