Index Ventures, a Europe-based venture capital firm, today announced the closing of Index Ventures IV, bringing the firm's total capital under management to more than ?1 billion. A small group of new investors joined existing investors the new fund which was capped at ?350M. Index Ventures IV will pursue the firm's strategy of partnering with highly talented entrepreneurs to build global companies in the information technology, life science and green tech sectors.

The firm also announced today the addition of former Skype global marketing vice president and Video Island founder Saul Klein as a venture partner. The firm also announced additions to its life science team with the appointment of PanGenetics founder Mark De Boer to venture partner and the promotion of experienced pharmaceutical executive, Michèle Ollier, to partner.
